Downsizing, Outsourcing, Privatization & You

Introduction

Downsizing, outsourcing, privatization -- what are they? How do they affect you?  How do you recognize them? What can you do if you think your employer may be about to get rid of your position? Are there clues that will let you know your job is in jeopardy? Is any job secure?
I wrote these pages because I had these questions, and I thought a brief summary of the answers I found would be useful to other people.  (For more detailed information, see Links.).
